Sakuragi is the main character in the series.He joined the basketball team because of the girl he likes,Takenori Haruko,who is Akagi's sister.Before he meets Haruko,Sakuragi has been dumped by girls for 50 times! He hates Rukawa when he realises that Haruko has a crush on Rukawa.Therefore,they often get into fights.

His hobby is quarrel with Rukawa and his dream is to be Haruko's boyfriend,beat Rukawa and become the best rebound catcher in state.Although he only learned to play basketball since the start of the 1st year of Senior High,just before the tournament,he becomes a very important member in the team because of his ability.Sakuragi is great in jumping,rebounding and running.After a very tough training before I.H game,he becomes even more powerful.

Rukawa was already a star basketball player when he is in Junior High.He then becomes the super star player in Shohoku team when he joined the team.Rukawa is an excellent point scorer and also good in attack and defense.Because of his skill and handsome looking,many girls admire him,which make him becomes a famous player in Kanagawa.

His weekness is he thinks that he doesn't need to depend on his team mates.He always try to change the game's flow by himself.Also,he is lack of stamina.Rukawa's hobbies are playing basketball and sleeping.His dream is to beat Sendoh,becomes the best basketball player in Japan and play basketball in USA.

Rukawa is also one of the Kanagawa Star Players.

Mitsui is an excellent 3-point shooter,and was a MVP(Most Valuable Player) in the national championship when he is in Junior High School.He turned down famous schools's application and joined Shohoku Basketball Team because of the coach of Shohoku team,Anzai Mitsuyoshi.Anzai-sensei is the one who give him encouragement in the final game of the Junior High School tournament,which make him won the game and the MVP award. However,because of a serious knee injury,Mitsui gave up basketball and started hanging around with gangsters.

After meeting Anzai-sensei when he was in a fight with Miyagi,Mitsui broke down to the floor and crying in front of Anzai,saying that he wanted to play basketball again.Mitsui then cuts his hair and rejoined the team. He was the star in the team during the Shohoku vs Shoyo game,he has scored 20 points for Shohoku team.(The game result was - Shohoku vs Shoyo #8226; 62 - 60 ). His weekness is lack of stamina,probably is because he didn't practiced for over two years.

I wonder why Jin Soichiro can be one of the Kanagawa Star Players,not Mitsui?

Miyagi is the shortest member in the team,but his speed is the fastest in the team.He is also one of the best point guard in Kanagawa.Others are Maki Shinichi and Fujima Kenji.

Miyagi has been dumped by a big amount of girls like Sakuragi.Miyagi has been dumped 10 times while Sakuragi has been dumped 50 times.That's why they become best buddies in the team.Miyagi has a huge crush on the team manager,Ayako.Like Sakuragi,he joined basketball team because of the girl he likes.

Miyagi is also the one who teach Sakuragi how to do a fake moves. His dream is to become the best point guard in the country and go out with Ayako,perhaps.

Akagi is the captain of the team and also the eldest brother of Takenori Haruko. He starts to play backetball ever since he was a child.Akagi always dream to make Shohoku team to become the best basketball team in Japan but fail to do so because he has no good teammates.But after Mitsui,Miyagi,Rukawa and Sakuragi joined the team,Shohoku is able to enter the Inter-High game(I.H game) for the first time.

Akagi is also one of the Kanagawa Star Players.
